Metal clay is a magical medium that starts out as soft clay and can be shaped and moulded. Create a unique design with your own texturing style, initial stamp and added gemstones with two different stone settings. Fired (by you!), it turns into real fine silver right before your eyes. Join our experienced teachers on an exploration of this unusual medium and find out its endless possibilities in this 5-hour workshop. You will get an insight into this incredible craft with a highly-experienced goldsmith who works within the industry and has an abundance of jewellery making experience.

Learn goldsmithing
basics hands-on:

  • Design a custom pendant and bail using metal clay.
  • Cut and roll metal clay to precise thickness requirements.
  • Apply textures to the material for a unique finish.
  • Set a cubic zirconia stone in flush setting technique.
  • Learn secure bezel-setting techniques for cubic zirconia stones.
  • Observe hand-polishing techniques for a professional final look.
  • Watch the firing process to transform clay into silver.

  • What time is the workshop?

    This is a five hour workshop with lunch from 1pm to 2pm. There is an array of fabulous lunch places to eat with Dublin’s cultural quarter on our doorstep. Choose from lots of fabulous local spots or bring a picnic and eat it in St Stephen’s Green, which is just around the corner.

  • Is the venue accessible

    Unfortunately, no. As both of our studios are located in very old and beautiful period buildings, we have lots of stairs and are therefore not accessible for people with impaired mobility.
