Our Story

In 2017, Madeleine Blaine founded The Collective on Drury Street as our independent jewellery and gift store for Ireland’s most talented jewellery-makers and artisans.

After an out-of-the-blue request to run a bespoke jewellery-making workshop for Airbnb Experiences in 2018, Madeleine joyously jumped at the opportunity to create our sister company, Silver Works. Starting out humbly as a weekly night class in jewellery-making, the studio took its place above The Collective shop premises.

Forging
the way

From the small basement space of 24 Drury Street, Silver Works and The Collective now proudly occupy three floors of this beautiful and historically-steeped Dublin building. Over the years, we’ve developed an array of bespoke and specialist jewellery-making workshops and courses that range from full beginners’ and improvers’ classes to special one-day events. Unlike traditional institutions in the industry, we prioritise sharing our skillset with professionals who want to work in the field as well as individuals who want to express their creativity through jewellery-making.

Our talented team has grown and gone from strength to strength. Expanding a thriving business, we opened on 4 South Great Georges Street in 2024.  Silver Works has proudly received a variety of awards, accolades and recognitions. In a few short years, we’ve been recognised as one of Ireland’s top visitor experiences.

Mission

Our mission is to inspire Dublin’s locals and visitors to craft take-home memories in the most open, authentic, creative and fun jewellery making environment.

Vision

Our vision is to lead the way in providing expert, interactive, empathetic jewellery-making experiences for both individuals and industry professionals.

The Family
Silver

In the London markets in the 1980s, a young Madeleine Blaine watched her free-spirited grandmother work with beautiful jewellery and run her own market stand. Maddy was fascinated by the story behind every gem and its ability to bring precious metals to life. In her late teens, Maddy and her best friend embarked on a global adventure, starting with Mexico, which happened to be home to some of the rarest gemstones in the world. After falling in love, Maddy and her new husband were drawn to learn the jewellery business, sourcing, buying, selling, designing and creating unique jewellery. Eleven years later after running multiple businesses, Maddy’s husband sadly passed away and she returned to London. Maddy then found herself drawn to the raw and welcoming creativity of Dublin, where she set up home.

Maddy longed to create a viable business for all the artists who were ever told, “You can’t make a living out of art”.

She began collaborating with likeminded local artists and founded The Collective. A defining moment in Maddy’s career, providing the first experience-based jewellery-making workshop for individuals from all backgrounds and skill levels has since inspired wonderful things. Through Silver Works, Maddy has enabled thousands of locals and visitors to Dublin to enjoy vibrant, immersive jewellery-making events and forge their own mark on the jewellery world.
