Our new jewellery skills day courses is for you if you are a complete newbie or for those of you who may be a little rusty and would like to get back into jewellery making after a break!
We understand how hard it is to find the time to commit to a workshop every week like our other courses, so we have split our Introduction to Jewellery making course into 3 core skills modules that you can book individually when there is a date available that suits your busy schedule. You must start with Skills day 1 and work your way up to Skills day 3.
Our small workshop size supports you as you gain confidence, knowledge and skills as a jewellery designer and maker. You’ll make a silver pierced pendant or silver ring with a rub over bezel setting. Gain an insight into this incredible craft with highly-experienced goldsmiths who work full-time within the industry and have an abundance of jewellery making experience.
What Skills will you learn in each session?
Skills Day 1:
Piercing, Drilling, and Ring Making.
Piercing: Cutting shapes or designs into metal sheets using tools like a jewellers saw.
Drilling: Creating precise holes in metal for design purposes or to prepare for stone setting or connecting parts.
Ring Making: Forming and shaping metal into rings, including measuring, cutting, and soldering.
Skills Day 2:
Platform Fabrication, Bezel, and Soldering Platform Fabrication:
Building structural bases for jewellery pieces, such as settings or frameworks.
Bezel Making: Crafting a thin metal strip to secure stones, ensuring a snug fit.
Soldering: Using heat to join metal pieces together with solder, an essential skill for constructing jewellery.
Skills Day 3:
Polishing and Stone Setting.
Polishing: Refining the surface of metal to achieve a smooth, shiny, or matte finish.
Stone Setting: Placing and securing gemstones into settings, which requires precision and care to ensure durability and aesthetic appeal.

Unfortunately, no. As both of our studios are located in very old and beautiful period buildings, we have lots of stairs and are therefore not accessible for people with impaired mobility.
