What is wax carving and how does it work?
For centuries, Jewellery artisans have been sculpting their own Jewellery designs from wax!
You start by learning about the lost wax casting process. You will then be shown samples of wax rings before and after they were cast. Your tutor will then give you a sample piece of wax to practice carving before moving on to getting creative and carving your own ring.
You have the option to make a standard width ring (that is included in the price) Or you can choose a thicker ring for and extra €25, including casting.
Embrace your creativity with your designs while our expert will help you bring your idea to life, while learning new skills.
This wax carving workshop is suitable for complete beginners and those looking to learn something new while having some fun.
Once you’re finished carving your design, it’s then ready to be cast!
How long does the workshop run for?
The workshop is 2.5 hours. And this includes, all material and your finished sterling silver ring.
Casting
After the workshop we take your carving to professional casters who take a mould of your design. They then pour the silver into your mould to create your piece of Jewellery. It will be returned to us within 3 weeks and we will clean up your casting to your chosen finish – matte or shiny – and return it to you once that’s finished!
The finishing touches
Once your piece has been returned to us, our team of Goldsmiths are on hand to clean and polish your ring. This is included in the class fee. You will be contacted by text when it is ready for collection. Alternatively, if you need it shipped, it would either be €10 (within Ireland) to €15 (outside of Ireland) depending on where you live. Please note that it is at Owner’s Own Risk for items to be posted. We cannot accept responsibility for lost items once we leave them in our courier’s hands. We do all we can to but once they are gone to post, there is nothing further we can do.
Gold Plating
We can offer a gold plating service, its €30 for a 14-21 day service turnaround. Simply let your teacher know and they will organise this for you.
